Fengqiu Agro-ecological Experiment Station TEXT SIZE: A A A
2009-08-27

This experiment station, founded in 1983, is located in Fengqiu County, Henan Province. Being one of the key member stations of the Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN) and one of the major national field stations, it is open to all scientists of various disciplines. In addition, it is an assigned stationary observatory for the Global Terrestrial Observation System (GTOS) of FAO. Moreover, the station has its own research fields (1) for analysis and prediction of evolutionary trends in the ecological environment for agricultural resources in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain Region; (2) for knowledge about the structure, function, and production of different agro-ecological systems along with underlying processes of material cycling and general rules of energy transformation between different subsystems or within a subsystem including theories for their regulation; and 3) for development of new water-, fertilizer- and land-saving technological systems with installation and demonstration of optimized models for artificial ecosystems.

Key staff members and major research fields

Dr. Zhang Jiabao, professor: Agricultural information technology and precision management of soil water and fertilizer.
Zhou Lingyun, professor: Optimization of structure and function of the agro-ecological system on the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain.
