On 17 July 2022, the 10th Forum on Soil and Groundwater Risk Control and Remediation Techniques for Contaminated Land concluded in Nanjing after a full three days of sessions. This hybrid forum was sponsored by the Technical Center for Soil, Agriculture, and Rural Ecology and Environment, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Soil Science Society of China, and the Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The forum was attended by more than 500 people from local governments, ecology and environment departments, environmental engineering companies, test centers, scientific research institutions and universities.

During the forum, 39 distinguished scholars were invited to present their case study research, dealing with four themes, namely “Environmental Management System and Policies Related to Construction Land”, “Soil and Groundwater Survey Methods and Practices for Contaminated Land”, “Soil and Groundwater Risk Assessment Methods and Practices for Contaminated Land”, and “Risk Control and Remediation Techniques and Application for Contaminated Land”.

This forum’s success will foster deeper communication and cooperation, enhance theoretical innovation and its practical applications to the control of soil and groundwater risk, and develop remediation techniques for contaminated land, and consolidate team building with respect to soil pollution control, thus helping to win the war against soil pollution and boosting sustainable development of soil remediation.
