Inaugural Ceremony (？JSTV.com)

On 24 August 2022, the Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISSCAS) witnessed the foundation of the Working Group on Carbon Neutrality and Global Change of the Soil Science Society of China (SSSC), and the official start of the Testing Facility Program for Soil Carbon Neutrality and Climate Change.

The inaugural ceremony of the Working Group on Carbon Neutrality and Global Change was chaired by Prof. Jianwen Zou, Vice President of the SSSC. Prof. Xiaoyuan Yan, Vice Director of the ISSCAS and General Secretary of the SSSC, gave the opening address and announced the founding of the Working Group. This Group consists of 35 members, Prof. Jianwen Zou as Director, Prof. Yunting Fang, Prof. Shuli Niu, Prof. Xueyan Liu and Prof. Chunwu Zhu as Vice Director, all of whom presented academic reports centering around the Agricultural Carbon Sequestration and Mitigation, Path to Green and Low-carbon Development, Research on the Response and Adjustment of Terrestrial Ecosystem to Global Change.

During the kick-off meeting of the Testing Facility Program for Soil Carbon Neutrality and Climate Change, Prof. Renfang Shen, Director of the ISSCAS and Honorary President of SSSC, in his opening address mentioned that the Institute would spare no effort to support the establishment of a testing facility in order to fulfill its responsibilities with respect to achieving carbon neutrality and combatting climate change.
