On 17 December 2023, the ISSCAS celebrated its milestone 70th anniversary. For the past seven decades, generations of soil scientists in our institute have been committed to serving national strategic needs and undertaking the mission of ensuring national food security. During the celebration meeting, Prof. Renfang Shen, Director of the ISSCAS, gave a detailed introduction about its process of 70 years, and explicitly pointed out our persistence in aligning with national development direction and streams of the time. Dr. Taolin Zhang and Prof. Yongguan Zhu expressed warm congratulations to the institute’s 70th anniversary and highly praised its dedications to soil sciences. Profs. Jiabao Zhang, Huaiman Chen, Yuting Liang and Deli Chen, graduate representative Yu Zeng shared their own stories with the ISSCAS and wished the institute the best in future endeavors. And the book Encyclopedia of China (Third Version)-Agricultural Resources Environment made its debut. After the celebration, attendees had a tour in our new campus in Qilin.
