The research and demonstration of integrated techniques for high-efficient agricultural utilization of salty-alkalized lands, a National Special Project for Commonweal Sector overtaken by the Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISSAS), was officially launched in Nanjing, Nov. 26th, 2009.
Over 80 specialists from ISSAS and other 29 concerned organizations attended the conference.Prof. YANG Jingsong, researcher of ISSAS, also chief expert of the project, presided over the conference and reported the whole implementation plan to the participants.
Based on the preliminary results on the utilization and cultivation of salty-alkalized soils, the project will concentrate on the research and demonstration of integrated techniques for high-efficient agricultural utilization of salty-alkalized lands and develop the technological models for high-efficient agricultural utilization of salty-alkalized lands in the northeastern, northwestern, and coastal areas of the country, and the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River and the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain, through the screening and innovation of techniques, new technology development, technological synthesis and construction of integrated technological models, to build the overall technological capability of utilizing the millions of salty-alkalized lands in China and to largely advance the productivity and agronomical efficiency of the salty-alkalized soils.
