In order to address key soil pollution issues arising from fast social and economic development in China and to meet the demand for the development of modern soil environmental science and soil remediation technologies, the Key Laboratory of Soil Environment and Pollution Remediation focuses on four major research fields: 1) soil environmental processes and effects; 2) soil environmental quality and evolution; (3) soil environmental monitoring and risk management; and 4) soil contamination control and remediation. The main research scopes include 1) pollutants transfer in the soil-plant system and of agro-products quality; 2) soil biological toxicity and ecological safety; 3) migration of pollutants in the soil-water system and water quality; 4) pollutant exchange at the soil-air interface and human health risks; 5) regional soil environment quality changes and soil standards；and 6) soil pollution control and remediation.
